In this assignment, we were given the opportunity produce a new brand for an event from scratch. It is definitely one of the projects that has changes my perception towards graphic design. It made me understand that graphic designer holds a more important role which is to solve problems through creative solutions rather than solely making designs look pretty.

Design and Typography:
Wagashi (The art of five senses)
Wagashi is a project aims to create a digital book utilizing formal grids and historical font of choice, followed by informal grids and trending contemporary fonts. Therefore, the title of the book that I chose is Wagashi, also known as the art of five senses.
Design Process Sketches

Two different layout sketches were produced before creating the digital book. Upon careful considerations, Layout 2 was chosen to produce a simple yet informative outcome of the book as the layout compliments better with the title "Wagashi".

Wagashi signifies the quintessence of Japanese culture. Wagashi can be categorized into summer wagashi, spring wagashi, autumn wagashi, and winter wagashi just like the four seasons. The first section is designed using formal grids which consist of column grid and modular grid. The second section of the book is designed with informal grids with a trending contemporary font.
